Can't Complete Registration Because of Failed Smog Test

by NeedTags Support

We recommend contacting the State Smog Check Referee one more time, perhaps a different referee location. Our understanding of the repair assistance program and low income repair-cost waiver is that you may use the $500.00 given by the state and used to repair your vehicle's emissions failure, toward the $650.00 required in order to be eligible for the one-time smog exemption. The difference of $150.00 must be paid by you, and must be specifically paid to a smog check licensed repair facility for work done on your vehicle directly related to the smog failure.
